CSX21 students join this year’s exclusive ‘Concord Club’

30 July 2021

Last week marked the end of Concord Summer’s second online educational programme in as many years – The Concord Summer Experience 2021 (CSX21).

The CSX21 programme – a free online course for 13-17 year olds, in place of the college’s usual residential courses – comprised of 3 weeks of ‘active study’, in addition to developing key study skills.

Each week was based on a theme: Planet Earth (Week 1), Global Community (Week 2) and The Future (Week 3).

The 15 tasks and 3 additional study skills workshops followed Concord Summer’s principle of ‘See, Hear, Read, Write, Do, Review’ to enhance students’ understanding in a range of subject-based tasks, including English, Art, Science, Sports, Wellbeing and Life Skills.

According to Summer School Director, Mrs Kari Quant: “The tasks were designed so students from around the world could experience integrated subjects on offer at Concord Summer’s usual residential courses – which will re-commence in 2022.

“All tasks were designed to be completed with resources freely available in the home or outdoors – and students could access the tasks anytime on a dedicated portal to complete at their own pace.”

An excellent 799 student entries were submitted during the course – and over 60 hours of total view time was accumulated of teacher videos (tasks) on YouTube.

For students who completed all 15 tasks and 3 study skills, they were given the accolade of joining the ‘Concord Club’ – an exclusive group for those with maximum participation, with certification also awarded.

Two students in the Concord Club are also the lucky recipients of winners’ raffle prizes, which include exclusive vouchers for 50% off 2022 fees, in addition to a Concord Summer goodie bag each. Winners to be contacted soon!

Concord Summer’s Senior Administrator, Mrs Sharon Connor said: “We are delighted that so many students from around the world were keen to enhance their learning at this time and have enjoyed a taste of a Concord Summer.

“We hope to meet many of them, face-to-face, in 2022.”

Thank you to all teaching staff and support staff involved in CSX21!
