Concord College Summer School is an international community set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside. The college offers a range of academic courses, as well as English Language and Science courses for students along with a range of recreational activities to students aged 11-16 years during the summer period from July to August. The excellent academic and recreational facilities provide international students with a fantastic British summer school experience. We currently have the following vacancies:

 

SUMMER SCHOOL GENERAL SCIENCE TEACHER (BIOLOGY) – SESSION 2 ONLY

We are seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced Biology Teachers to join session 2 of our 2024 Summer School. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a passionate and driven academic team in a diverse and fast paced environment. Although the role involves planning and delivering high quality biology lessons, incorporating practical work, there will be a requirement for the successful applicant to teach other elements of science. As a member of the STEM department, you will need an energetic and enthusiastic approach to deliver engaging and motivational teaching to students with a wide range of abilities to improve their skills and knowledge of the subject area. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is an adaptable approach to team working and teaching and the ability to work flexibly even when under pressure. In addition to delivering a high standard academic programme, applicants are expected to contribute to the Summer School’s Social Programme. As this role will include evening and weekend work on a rota basis, a residential option is available.

Applicants must have a degree in their chosen subject (Biology) and preferably have a PGCE in that discipline along with at least one year’s teaching experience.

Proficiency in both spoken and written English and previous experience of living or working in the UK is essential.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. The College does not apply for work permits, visas or offer sponsorship.

Course dates:

Session 2: Wednesday 17 July – Tuesday 6 August 2024

Please note:

The above dates include training days, which are paid contracted days and attendance is mandatory for all Summer School staff.

The base salary range for session 2 is between £2,016 and £2,449 and is dependent upon qualification and experience.

In addition to a competitive salary, the College provides accommodation, a laundry service and three meals a day.
