Action – a changing world (NEW to 2025)
This course is designed to encourage students to consider environmental changes and the impact on society. Students will be presented with a range of the World’s biggest dilemma’s and discuss natural and human causes with the aim to work together to tackle the problems and develop solutions. This course will challenge students to give them the confidence to make a difference and to contribute as global citizens.
Available in Session 1 only
– Introduction to Human, Physical and Environmental world issues
– Introduction to a series of ‘moral dilemmas’ through real life scenarios
– Research solutions and present findings through group and project work
Topics may include:
– Flooding and ecological issues
– Climate change
– Pollution and waste management (fast fashion/ plastics)
– Impact on wildlife
– Mass tourism
– Fracking
This is an interactive course, combining independent and group work through discussions, debate and hands on project work. Lessons will be conducted in the classroom as well as through fieldwork. Students will also experience an accompanying academic trip such as an interactive museum or a wildlife centre.
