Care
of Students & Safeguarding
We understand that being away from home can be a very big step for both parent and child and, as a result, we want to ensure that all students feel at home throughout their time at Concord. We make sure that all students feel safe and cared for whilst at Concord and we pride ourselves on the care of our students, following our robust safeguarding policies and procedures.
Safeguarding Policy
Concord has a Safeguarding Policy in line with the UK Government statutory guidance and it is reviewed regularly. Our Safeguarding Team deal with all issues relating to student welfare from homesickness to health and wellbeing. The team work with other staff (teachers, boarding parents, activity, catering and domestic staff) to monitor students closely, and intervene quickly to provide appropriate care. This may be a buddy system, a talking service such as independent listener or counsellor, or a referral to the medical team.
Electronic Registration
Students are issued with an electronic ID badge on arrival and are required to register electronically at key points throughout the day including for class lessons and during leisure time. Our Safeguarding Team can quickly locate students who have not registered for lessons. They can also monitor that students are attending meal times and check on any students that are missing meals.
Supervision Outside Class Times
Students aged 11-12 years, have the support of a team of Summer School Assistants and are expected to register at regular times outside of lesson and mealtimes (evenings and weekends).
Students, aged 13-16 years, have the freedom to choose how they spend their leisure time to help develop their independence, so they are not fully supervised outside of class lessons. They are required to register electronically at key points during their leisure period.
Supervision During Excursions and Trips
Students aged 11-12 years, are supervised for all excursions by members of staff.
Students aged 13-16 years, are unsupervised for all excursions (unless consent is withheld on the parental consent form), but they must check in at a meeting point at designated times throughout the trip and must remain in a minimum student group size of 4.
Medical Centre
We have a purpose built Medical Centre with a team of qualified nurses who:
- facilitate the access to medication
- administer UK medication only
- help any student feeling unwell
- provide first aid
Whilst there is no charge to be seen by the College Nurse, there may be charges incurred by students from certain countries for National Health Service (NHS) hospital treatment. We provide insurance for all students (travel & medical), but recommend this is checked before travelling to ensure it meets individual requirements.

On Campus Security
We have a dedicated Security Team who ensure the campus is a safe and secure place to live and study, with our extensive CCTV system being monitored regularly. Security personnel check all visitors in and out of campus.
