Concord College Summer School is an international community set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside. The college offers a range of academic courses, as well as English Language and Science courses for students along with a range of recreational activities to students aged 11-16 years during the summer period. The excellent academic and recreational facilities provide international students with a fantastic British summer school experience.

PASTORAL MANAGER & DEPUTY DESIGNATED SAFEGUARDING LEAD (DDSL) (SESSION 2 ONLY)

(RESIDENTIAL)

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Pastoral Manager & DDSL to join session 2 our 2026 Summer School. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a passionate and driven team in a diverse and fast paced environment. The Pastoral Manager & DDSL will be a lead contact within the Pastoral Team to ensure the smooth running of the course and delivery of the best possible pastoral care to ensure the wellbeing of all students within boarding residences, during lessons and recreation time.

Applicants should have a degree in any subject and experience of boarding at Concord College or another high-quality British boarding school. They should have training in Advanced Safeguarding to level 3 by a recognised education service provider, and management or supervisory experience is also essential for the post.

The Pastoral Manager & DDSL is also required to be resident on campus or in Acton Burnell village during the Summer School and will work evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

Proficiency in both spoken and written English and previous experience of living or working in the UK is essential.

The salary range for session 2 is between £2,058 and £2,190 and is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

These figures are based on working a full session. In addition to a competitive salary, the College provides accommodation, a laundry service and three meals a day.

OPERATIONS & ACTIVITIES MANAGER

(RESIDENTIAL)

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Operations & Activities Manager to join our 2026 Summer School. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a passionate and driven team in a diverse and fast paced environment. The Operations & Activities Manager will report directly to, and support, the Assistant Director (Operations & Activities) and will provide support to ensure efficient and effective running of daily operational activities. They will arrange, coordinate, and manage the day-to-day programme of activities and events.

Applicants should have experience of operational or event management, and experience of working in a boarding school environment or in a school operational role.  The successful candidate should also have management or supervisory experience. Teaching experience is desirable, although is not essential.

Proficiency in both spoken and written English and previous experience of living or working in the UK is essential.

GENERAL SCIENCE TEACHER (CHEMISTRY/BIOLOGY/PHYSICS)

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Science Teacher to join session 2 of our 2026 Summer School. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a passionate and driven team in a diverse and fast paced environment. The Teacher will plan and present high-quality lessons, teaching in an engaging and motivational way. Teachers should prepare work aimed at the appropriate level of the students. As they come from a variety of countries and educational backgrounds, extension work should be available for those students who might have covered some work previously. The post holder will report directly to the Assistant Director (Academic Studies – STEM) and will teach Chemistry, Biology and Physics lessons.

Applicants should hold a good quality degree in a science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and preferably have a PGCE in that discipline along with at least one year’s teaching experience.

SUMMER SCHOOL ASSISTANT

We are seeking to appoint a team of Summer School Assistants to join session 2 of our 2026 Summer School. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a passionate and driven team in a diverse and fast paced environment. Summer School Assistants provide support to the Senior Operations & Activities team and Senior Pastoral team to ensure the smooth running of the courses and delivery of the best possible pastoral care to ensure the wellbeing of all students. The role of Summer School Assistant also includes undertaking boarding parenting duties. The post holder will provide help, encouragement and support to students and act as a positive role-model, setting a good example by their conduct and conversation. The post holder should be professional yet caring and approachable and be aware that this may be the first time some students have been away from home.

Summer School Assistants must have as a minimum a level 3 qualification and be working towards a degree. Experience of working with young people is preferred. It is preferred that the degree is in a subject relevant to the post, but this is not essential. A qualification in either health & social care, working with young people, sport, performing arts or art is desirable.
