Pre-Arrival

Please see information below to help you make preparations to arrive at Concord College.

Please read below information on visa requirements:

Many students can study in the UK for up to six months without a visa and some nationalities need to apply for a standard visitor visa.

Students do not need a visa if they are from an EU or EEA country, or any other country on the ‘non-visa national’ list. Other students need to apply for a standard visitor visa before travel. Please check the UK Government website for the latest advice and to check if you need a visa.

We recommend that all students carry a copy of their Summer School enrolment documents with them to present to border officials if necessary.

Concord College is situated in Acton Burnell, a village south of Shrewsbury in Central England, post code SY5 7PF.

260 km from London Heathrow Airport

By road from M1 Leave the M1 at junction 19 to join the M6. Leave the M6 at junction 10A to join the M54 to Telford. At Telford the M54 merges with the A5, a dual carriageway, which continues to Shrewsbury. As you approach the outskirts of Shrewsbury, follow the signs for Bridgnorth (A458). At the second roundabout you should leave the A5, following signs for Bridgnorth/Much Wenlock. This road will take you over the top of the A5. Then take the second turning on the right signposted “Acton Burnell Castle”. The College is approximately 10 km along this road, which is very narrow in parts. Careful driving is necessary! As you approach the village of Acton Burnell take the left turning. The College entrance is along this road on your right.
Rail/Train There are rail links to Shrewsbury Station from all major cities, including London, Manchester and Birmingham. The journey from Shrewsbury Station to the College is approximately 13 km and taxis are available at the Station.
