The English Language Summer School is designed for students (aged 11- 16 years) who are keen to develop all four language skills in a dynamic and interactive learning environment.

Discovery Workshop Options

| This is an exciting Discovery Workshop for students to develop their creative skills. Each day they will explore and learn a different artistic technique and experiment with a range of materials. | 
| Sports Skills |

| This Discovery Workshop will introduce students to the skills required for a variety of sports that will help enhance their performance and make them effective team players. These are likely to include football, basketball, badminton, athletics and tennis. | 
| British Culture (11-12 years only) |

| This Discovery Workshop is a fun and interesting way for students aged 11-12 years to delve into the history of Britain, exploring its culture over different periods of time. They will be introduced to topics such as famous landmarks, traditional food, music, pop culture, monarchy and values. | 
| Leadership Skills (13-16 years only) |

| This workshop introduces students to the skills, language and techniques required for successful leadership. They will build confidence in communication skills, enhancing their presentation skills and will be challenged to think creatively. | 
Enrichment Activity Options
Social & Leisure Programme
– Full Immersion: Join a diverse community of international students from various backgrounds, which will help students to learn English quickly and naturally.
– Project-Based Learning: Break away from routine classroom settings. Students will engage in project-based learning that challenges them to apply language skills to authentic tasks.
– Comprehensive Approach: Learner-centred methodology which emphasises guided discovery, independent learning, and enhances communication skills. Students will develop language skills while building meaningful connections with others.
– Tangible Outcomes: Each project has a specific, tangible result. Students will see the outcomes of their efforts, boosting motivation and confidence.
– Balancing Fluency and Accuracy: Course content strikes a balance between fluency and accuracy, ensuring students develop both essential language skills.
The English Language course consists of up to four project blocks. Each block will contain General English classes and Project classes:
– English Classes: These classes provide essential language practice, equipping students with the skills needed to complete a specified project.
– Project Classes: Applying what has been learnt in the English classes to real-world themes. Topics may include business, the environment, technology, music and culture, sports and entertainment, fashion and shopping.
The teaching and learning approach is learner-centred and communicative, encouraging active participation, collaboration, and guided exploration. By the end of the course, students will:
– Develop all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening)
– Enhance accuracy and fluency
– Improve research and presentation abilities
– Cultivate teamwork and interpersonal relations
– Have greater confidence when communicating in English

Maximum Class Size: 12 for students aged 11-12 years and 15 for students aged 13-16 years
